The normal length of a woman’s menstrual cycle is approximately 5 days and occurs every 28 to 35 days.

Any bleeding that is heavier than normal, longer than normal or irregular is considered abnormal uterine bleeding.

If this occurs you should call 757-595-9905 and make an appointment with us as soon as possible.

Some causes for abnormal bleeding may be polyps, uterine fibroids, pre-cancer or cancer, hormonal abnormalities or bleeding disorders. Your medical providers may do some lab work as well as an ultrasound or biopsy of the lining of your uterus to determine the cause.
