What is NIPT/Carrier Screening

NIPT:

Noninvasive prenatal tests (NIPT) can screen for trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) and other chromosomal abnormalities—as well as the sex of your baby—as early as nine weeks into your pregnancy, and with a high degree of accuracy.

Carrier Screening:

A type of genetic testing that is used to determine if a person is a carrier for a specific autosomal recessive diseases. This kind of testing is used most often by couples who are considering becoming pregnant to determine the risks of their child inheriting one of these genetic disorders.
